Kylian Mbappe

The New captain of France will be Kylian Mbappe.

Hugo Loris resigned after France’s defeat to Argentina in the World Cup championship game, and Kylian Mbappe will now lead France, a team source told AFP.

Striker Mbappe, 24, of Paris Saint-Germain, accepted the role after speaking with coach Didier Deschamps.

Before Antoine Griezmann, Kylian Mbappe was officially confirmed as France’s new captain.

His first game as captain will be the Euro 2024 qualifier against the Netherlands on Friday at the Stadium de France, the French national team’s first match since their loss in the World Cup final in Qatar on December 18.

A few weeks after Argentina’s Lionel Messi team overcame France on penalties following a thrilling match that ended 3-3 in extra time, Lloris, a 36-year-old goaltender for Spurs, called it quits on his international career.

Lloris had been the captain for more than ten years.

Raphael Varane of Manchester United retired after the team defeated Argentina in December, and Antoine Griezmann of Atletico Madrid was elected vice-captain.

Before he scores a hat-trick in the World Cup final loss, Mbappe closely links to the captaincy for weeks.

A “great idea,” in the words of France’s European Championship-winning coach Michel Platini.

Leadership Responsibility

Giving Kylian the leadership responsibility enables him to push even further, higher, and more powerfully when necessary, according to Michel Platini, a former president of UEFA, who made this claim in a statement to AFP.

Mbappe established himself as the best forward in the world while still a young child in 2018 when he assisted Les Bleus in winning the World Cup.

Instead of Brazilian defender Marquinhos, the Paris-born former Monaco player, who acts as PSG’s vice-captain, led the squad without the defence during Sunday’s loss to Rennes.

Mbappe has scored 19 goals in 24 Ligue 1 games this season, including seven goals during PSG’s run to the last 16 of the Champions League, where Bayern Munich defeated them.

Germain’s Leading Scorer

France will compete in their qualifying group in the Germany-hosted Euro 2024 with the Netherlands, the Republic of Ireland, Greece, and Gibraltar.

Mbappe achieves a landmark as Paris Saint-all-time Germain’s leading scorer.

In Saturday’s 4-2 Ligue 1 victory over Nantes, Kylian Mbappe scored his 200th goal for Paris Saint-Germain, passing Cristiano Ronaldo to become the team’s all-time leading scorer.

The French superstar scored two goals in last week’s triumph at Marseille to tie Edinson Cavani’s previous record of 200 goals. At the Parc des Princes, he did one better by scoring in stoppage time.

Before their vital trip to Bayern Munich, PSG had blown a two-goal advantage. They received the information from Lionel Messi, and Jaouen Hadjam’s strike made it 2-0 after 17 minutes. However, right before the break, Nantes rallied to level the game.

After the visitors’ goals from Ignatius Ganago and Ludovic Blas and PSG’s goal from Danilo Pereira after an hour, Mbappe provided the assist. Late in the game, Mbappe added his historic goal.

Mbappe achieved the feat after joining Monaco in 2017 in just 247 games. At the time, he was 18.

Before Marseille plays on Sunday and before the Qatar-owned squad goes to Bayern for their Champions League last-16 second-leg meeting on Wednesday, PSG already leads Marseille by 11 points at the top of Ligue 1.

They lost the encounter in Paris last month by a score of 1-0.

Mbappe leads PSG’s attack against Bayern Munich in the Champions League

Kylian Mbappe anticipates starting for Paris Saint-Germain against Bayern Munich on Wednesday in their Champions League round of 16 showdowns because his past injury has fully recovered.

The French forward had to sit out the 1-0 loss to Munich in the first leg due to a thigh injury. Also starting is defender Achraf Hakimi, charged with rape last week.

Although Neymar is out with a season-ending ankle injury that may require surgery, midfielders Fabian Ruiz and Vitinha replace Carlos Soler and youngster Warren Zaire-Emery.

After making three adjustments to the squad that prevailed in Paris last month, Bayern will name Thomas Mueller, Joshua Kimmich’s replacement, as captain.

Alphonso Davies and Josip Stanisic start instead of Leroy Sane and Joao Cancelo.

France’s Benjamin Pavard will not participate in the match because of his suspension.

Mbappe focuses on leading PSG past Bayern.

Kylian Mbappe determines to lead the French powerhouses past Bayern and into the Champions League quarter-finals as they head to Munich following a record-breaking weekend with Paris Saint-Germain.

Making A Mark

Football players aspire to leave a lasting impression and remember for their contributions to the sport.

Mbappe said, “I think this record will help people identify me here,” as PSG presented him with a trophy on the pitch in front of a jubilant crowd.

Mbappe has 30 goals in 30 games for his side this season, and even though Lionel Messi narrowly edged him out for the Best FIFA Men’s Player award, the teenager has a strong argument for being the best player in the world right now.

Messi, who has scored 18 goals for PSG this season, is primarily in Christophe Galtier’s team to support Mbappe, for whom Neymar’s injury-related absence in Munich — and for several more months — may not be an issue.

Yet, it would matter to PSG and their Qatari owners if they eliminates from the Champions League in the first round for the sixth time in the previous seven years.

Although PSG lost to Bayern in Lisbon in 2020—their only appearance in the final—one of Mbappe’s strongest performances with PSG came the following year in Munich.

On a chilly night in April 2021, Mbappe scored twice in a 3-2 quarterfinal first-leg victory over Bayern in an empty Allianz Arena.

He quickly put Paris ahead 2-0. Bayern was able to draw the game, but Mbappe ultimately scored to win it.

When the Frenchman slammed the ball past goalkeeper Manuel Neuer at the near post, he appeared to be curving the ball toward the far corner.

I’m already thinking about the game on Wednesday. Qualification is our primary objective in Munich.

“Before dismissing rumors that a PSG leave would speed his departure from the team, Mbappe declared on Saturday.

Coach Galtier may be looking for something other than Mbappe’s defensive flaws. Thus PSG may need his goals more than ever in Bavaria.

Presnel Kimpembe will miss the rest of the season with an Achilles injury, limiting the coach’s options in that position even though his squad has fared best this season when playing with three center-backs.

Due to rib ailments, Nordi Mukiele and skipper Marquinhos force to miss games over the weekend.

Because of how vital his mobility is to a defense with an aging Sergio Ramos, the former is expected to play even if not entirely healthy.

Mukiele’s presence would be advantageous even though Ashraf Hakimi might return at right-back less than a week after being charged with rape.

PSG says they support the Moroccan player while the case examines and that the legal proceedings would not impact the player’s eligibility to leave France.
